APPROPRIATE STUDENT PLACEMENT FOR INSTRUCTION

Along with the development of world-class standards and the articulation of pre-requisites for instruction at all levels, we must introduce a new system of placement for instruction.

Curriculum experts currently have the knowledge and resources to develop readiness pre-requisites for instruction in any subject area. In many cases, the development of each benchmark standard creates a pre-requisite for subsequent coursework.

No student should ever be enrolled in any course of instruction unless it can be demonstrated with reasonable certainty that the student is prepared to be successful in that course of instruction. To do otherwise is set in motion a long-term cycle of failure that diminishes the individual and gives rise to countless social ills.

A student’s readiness can be easily demonstrated by having been certified as possessing pre-requisite competencies, or by passing an entrance exam that demonstrates the possession of pre-requisites.
